Local Veteran Commander Harold Hodges with Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6181, announces a Special 100th Anniversary World War One Commemoration-

“The Buddy Poppy has been the VFW’s most familiar public recognition symbol for over 90 years, and our Post 6181 has participated in the Poppy drive every year since inception. We are often asked, especially by our local businesses, how can they contribute to this major public display of Veteran support.  This year we have a special and unique answer, the World War One commemorative poppy seed packets! This year being the 100th Anniversary of WW1, businesses can support both that commemoration and their local Veterans by purchasing one or more displays of Poppy Seeds for planting. Each box contains 60 seed packets and businesses are offered these packets for $100 per box. By offering the seed packets to their customers, businesses show their support of Veterans and the acknowledgment of this historical commemorative event. So, businesses can support their local Veterans and honor the 4.7 million who died in World War One by purchasing the packets and giving them to their customers.”

Individuals and businesses that wish to participate are urged to contact Commander Hodges at 615-746-4207 or contact the Veterans Service Office at 615-246-1477 for more information.
