CHEATHAM COUNTY MURDER – Saturday, January 21, 2017 around 12:00 p.m. Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office received a call requesting a welfare check of John Neunenswander because he had not been heard from in several days.

According to Sheriff Mike Breedlove’s weekly Sheriff’s Report, Deputies Mallard and Arguello were met at the residence, 1000 Block of Golf Course Lane in Ashland City, Tennessee,  by concerned family members. Upon entering the home John Neunenswander, 56, (DOB 3/5/1956) was found deceased.

Sheriff Mike Breedlove reported to the crime scene and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Special Agents were called in to assist. TBI Special Agents, Cheatham County Investigators, Forensic Scientists and experts worked diligently to uncover evidence that would lead to an arrest.

On Friday, January 27, TBI Newsroom reported Daniel Scott Stepputat, a Chapmansboro man, was arrested by TBI Special Agents, for the murder of John Neuenschwander.  According to the TBI report Stepputat had worked for the man he has been charged with murdering.

Currently Daniel Scott Steppulat is being held in the Cheatham County Jail without bond and is charged with one count of Felony Murder and one count of theft over $2500.00.
