A wide spread AT&T service outage was reported early Wednesday, April 5, 2017. AT&T hasn’t released an explanation for the outages and is unable to give a definitive answer to when all services will be fully restored.
According to the AT&T outage map the majority of wide spread service outages have been reported in large areas of California, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee and Texas.
Outages affected 911 emergency calls throughout the day at various locations across Tennessee. AT&T tweeted late Wednesday night service outages affecting 911 emergency calls have been resolved. During the outage Tennessee Emergency Management Agency advised, in the event of an emergency, to call 911 with another carrier or landline.
Customers had reported having “no service”, spotty service, low bar service, dropped calls, unable to dial out, receive calls, issues with text messaging and internet services via mobile, home services, business services and televised outlet connections. Late Wednesday night some AT&T customers had regained service but it was unclear whether service was regained temporary or fully.
AT&T was the only service carrier with mass outages on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 and company representatives could not give a definitive answer when services would be fully restored. However, they did state they were hoping all services would be regained no later than tomorrow, Thursday, April 6, 2017.
According to Outage.Report (http://outage.report/att) AT&T service outages, slow internet access, at home and businesses, and televised connection issues have steadily increased since the beginning of January across the United Staes.
On April 3, 2017 large service area of outages were reported in Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, Florida and Tennessee. AT&T stated the outages on April 3 were due to a software issue.
